SUPPORTING EXCELLENCE IN HEALTHCARE TO OUR COMMUNITIES AND REGION
The Houlton Regional Health Services Foundation is a non-profit 501c3 organization comprised of a volunteer Board of Trustees. Trustee members are community minded leaders who are vested in the mission of the Health Services Foundation.
The mission of the Health Services Foundation is to support excellence in healthcare by seeking funds and administering gifts to assist our non-profit health and wellness agencies with financial support to ensure the continuity of healthcare while supporting education opportunities throughout our region.
The Health Services Foundation proactively seeks grant funding and organizes fundraisers that support the critical equipment, technological needs, programs and educational needs of Houlton Regional Hospital , area clinics, municipal departments, school departments and organizations. Major fundraising campaigns have supported items such as Nuclear Imaging Equipment and Mamography Equipment for Houlton Regional Hospital. On-going fundraisers and grants support the purchase of vitally important items necessary to provide the best optimal care available in our region. A Coagulation Analyzer, portable Ultrasound machine, Cardiac Rehab equipment, a Microscope, stretchers, monitoring systems, echo table and a pediatric hearing screening tool are just a few of the items that the Health Services Foundation has been a part of securing for the many departments at Houlton Regional Hospital. In addition, the Foundation has been able to assist with items for area Fire Departments and Sports teams that require equipment for the safety and protection of their community members and players.
Through the generosity of two local benefactors, the Foundation is able to offer scholarships for those wishing to further their education in the medical field. The scholarships are given on an annual basis. Whether the career path is leading an individual to become a nurse, physician assistant, doctor, physical or occupational therapist or to receive certification in the medical science fields of phlebotomy, medical coding or other fields that ultimately promote good health to our region, the Foundation is proud and grateful to be a part of that endeavor. The demographic of the region we serve and the rural nature of our location makes what the Health Services Foundation does significant for the overall health and care given to those we serve. Partnerships with non-profit providers and organizations throughout Southern Aroostook, Northern Penobscot and Northern Washington Counties have allowed the Health Services Foundation to raise awareness of the needs within our communities while working together to meet those needs.
The Health Services Foundation and its Board of Trustees responsibly manage the Foundation’s endowment fund while at the same time, creatively seeking ways to raise funds for the many needs of our providers. The generosity of our community members and businesses alike is exceptional. It proves, in every way, that we are a community that cares about one another.
